FORT WORTH -- Construction began Thursday on a stretch of Interstate 35 West in Fort Worth. It's going to be a headache for thousands of drivers, but will eventually help ease congestion.
The plan is to rebuild 6.5 miles of existing lanes of I-35 W from Interstate 30 to north of the I-35/820 interchange. Crews will also be expanding frontage roads and they'll add two TEXpress lanes.
The project will cost about $1.4 billion and should be completed in 2018.
