FORT WORTH — It's a busy time for postal workers as we get closer to Christmas. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Postal Service said 558 million pieces of mail went through their offices on Monday.
Terri Crawford had 680 stops to make on Wednesday. With mail volume up nearly seven percent, the days are getting longer for her.
"I've been delivering lately in the dark, and that isn't no fun at all," she said.
While Monday was the busiest mailing day of the year, Wednesday and Thursday are the biggest delivery days.
"It's the only time you get to see personal mail delivered, because nobody sends personal mail anymore," Crawford said.
The USPS says you shouldn't be surprised if your mail arrives a little later than normal.
"This is when we really stand up and make every effort to get our packages delivered in time for Christmas," said USPS spokeswoman Kelly Pinto.
