FORT WORTH - Another North Texas district faces layoffs this morning.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has reported that the Fort Worth Independent School District is looking to trim millions from its budget because it stands to lose up to $80 million in state funding.

The district said they are looking to make the cuts as far from the classroom as possible.

Some proposals call for eliminating a football coach from each campus, assistant principals, administrative assistants, central administrators and campus monitors.

In all, the district is looking at shaving $30 million off next year's budget alone. Meanwhile, state and federal cuts could total $80 million.

The district said with such drastic fund cuts, they are looking into the possibility of cutting 900 to 1,000 teaching positions over the next two years.
