LANCASTER -- Lancaster Mayor Marcus Knight was arrested last month for drunk driving.
He was pulled over by Grapevine police along Highway 26 around 1:20 a.m. on Nov. 15. He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level greater than or equal to .15.
Knight released a statement Thursday that confirmed he was leaving a function on Nov. 14 when he was pulled over for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The statement said he "fully cooperated with law enforcement" but would not comment further due to the pending legal case.
"I would like to thank my family, friends and constituents for their support and understanding," Knight said in the statement. "I am requesting that people respect the privacy of me and my family during this time."
News 8 has learned some in Lancaster plan to be at Monday's Lancaster City Council meeting to confront the mayor about the arrest.
