Investigators now say a 15-year-old Irving girl collapsed and died from an asthma attack, falling on — and smothering — her one-month-old son.

Police in Irving told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Monday that test results from the Dallas County medical examiner's office show that Rebecca Ray died of natural causes in her bedroom on Dec. 15.

Police Sgt. Danny Webb said she apparently was holding her infant son, Cole Childress, when she collapsed and fell on him, suffocating him.

Tests by the Dallas County medical examiner's office shows Ray collapsed from an asthma attack and died in a bedroom of her home in Irving, a Dallas suburb.

Autopsies found no injuries to either.
