NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - A certain group of North Texans has been up early watching the Olympics.

Friday morning, News 8 met with friends and family of 23-year-old Lauren Donahoo, of North Richland Hills. She grooms one of the U.S. horses in the "Dressage" competition. The horse-and-rider events are not aired in primetime, so her supporters got up at 5 a.m. and hooked up the web coverage.

WFAA's cameras were rolling as they spotted the Olympic rookie several times walking with her team's horse.

"I think our athletes get an awful lot of publicity and that's fabulous," said Pam Donahoo, Lauren's mother. "They deserve it, but sometimes it's the behind-the-scenes people, and realizing that she does all this work behind-the-scenes and we want her to know that we're here and she is just as important to us as anybody. She may not be on that metal stand getting a metal, but in our hearts she certainly has one."

Donahoo's family is planning to watch again on Tuesday morning to see if Lauren's team's horse makes the next round.
