- UniverSoul Circus:
- August 2-7
DALLAS - Basketball and hip hop usually don't fit in with the clown cars and animal acts the circus is known for, but UniverSoul Circus is trying to change that.
Ringmaster Shucky Ducky said UniverSoul Circus, performing through Sunday at Southwest Center Mall, is unlike any traditional circus and that's how they prefer it.
"The UniverSoul Circus is the most interactive circus in the world," Ducky said. "We don't have spectators, we have participators."
The UniverSoul Circus has been touring since 1994 and is the "best in urban family entertainment," according to Ducky. The circus' website said the show's vision was "to explore the various talents other than singing and dancing that black performers had to offer."
That reaches from traditional circus performances such as trapeze and animal acts to more modern acts like the Biker Boys, three motorcycle riders who drive at 55-mph around Ducky in a "Globe of Death."
Ducky didn't seem too concerned about the danger involved in his job.
"I'll tell you, it's real scary, because my life is in their hands. I have to trust them," Ducky said. "But I'll tell you, it's a lot of fun."
The UniverSoul Circus will be at Southwest Center Mall through August 7.
