This week the Lyndon B. Johnson Library marked 50 years since LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It's a landmark piece of legislation that banned discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, or national origin.

A lot has changed in the 50 years since, but there is still work to be done.

Dallas historian Donald Payton talked with News 8’s Shelly Slater about why it’s important to remember and pay tribute to the Civil Rights movement.
