An argument at a halfway house in Richardson late Monday night led to deadly gun violence.

Police said a resident at an Oxford House in the 1400 block of Lamp Post Lane was in the process of packing after being asked to leave the facility when he shot another resident in the leg at around 9:30 p.m.

A Richardson police officer responding to the emergency call confronted the 41-year-old suspect, who then took his own life.

The man who was shot in the leg was taken to a hospital for treatment; he is expected to survive.

No names were released.

According to its website, Oxford House operates 13 halfway houses in Richardson, offering services to more than 90 people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
