DALLAS — A little girl was sleeping inside a car Thursday afternoon when it was stolen in Oak Cliff.

The seven-year-old child is safe, but police are still looking for the thief.

It all started around 3:30 p.m. when Juan Chavarri, the owner of Paris Perfumes in the 600 block of West Jefferson Boulevard, heard the girl's mother screaming for her daughter.

Chavarri jumped in his car and chased after the man who had driven away in the stolen Toyota Rav 4.

It appears that the suspect stopped the vehicle, got out and ran away when he realized that there was a child in the back.

The unidentified girl was not injured. She was reunited with her mother a short time later.
