MIDLOTHIAN — Midlothian police said three people were injured Saturday night when a gas grenade exploded.

According to investigators, a man was holding the device at a home in the 2400 block of Charing Cross Road when it detonated just before 9 p.m.

The man was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center for treatment of an eye injury.

Two other people in the residence suffered minor injuries as a result of flying debris. They did not require hospitalization, and no names were released.

The man told police he got the grenade from a grandfather. It was thought to be an older CS gas grenade, which is commonly used today in riot control.
