FORT WORTH — Have you been stuck behind the wheel on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth?
A builder just got the green light to apply for a federal loan to rebuild the congested freeway.
Every day, about 141,000 vehicles clog the 12-mile stretch of I-35W from downtown Fort Worth north to Highway 287. The feds are expected to approve $415 million to fund a good chunk of the project.
This is big news for Tarrant County motorists. Existing lanes will be replaced and two toll lanes will be added.
If all the remaining loose ends are tied up, construction would start next year and wrap up in 2018.
