FRISCO — Frisco residents living near the Exide Battery Plant wanted to know why it is taking so long to bring the company into federal air quality compliance.

Members of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality met with residents to try to answer questions at a meeting Thursday night.

The TCEQ is working on a plan for Exide to reduce its lead emissions, but residents are concerned about health risks now.

In 2009, Exide released 1.67 tons of lead.

An Exide official who attended the meeting did not comment.
