DALLAS — A new food truck park opened Saturday in Dallas.

Cedars Food Park is in Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park near downtown, and organizers estimated 2,000 people attended the grand opening event in triple-digit temperatures.

Some diners retreated to an air conditioned building that was opened to provide heat relief. Others were content to eat in the shade of the tall trees that are everywhere you turn in the city's first park.

The food trucks will be back Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The dinner bell will ring on Thursday nights from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Heritage Village, at 1515 South Harwood Street, covers 20 acres and features 18 different food trucks. Organizers hope it will be an extra draw to the museums in the park.

Fort Worth already has two food truck parks, and in a few months, one of them will triple in size.

Right now, there are about 165 licensed food trucks in Fort Worth; that number grows every week.
