FORT WORTH — First responders said farewell Saturday to Ronnie Ferguson, who died February 9 after a long battle with colon cancer.

He had been with MedStar since its beginning in 1986, helping to save countless lives along the way.

Police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks led a long processional from a funeral home in Fort Worth to Ferguson's final resting place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park.

Ferguson's casket was transported in a MedStar ambulance as a sign of respect.

Ronnie Ferguson will be remembered as the man who always stepped up and took care of people. He gave work his all... and life his all.. even when faced with colon cancer.

A few years ago, Ferguson said fighting cancer helped him relate with his patients.

Ronnie Ferguson was 49 years old.
