ADDISON — As the wind chill index hovered in the single digits Wednesday night, Addison firefighters battled a stubborn townhouse fire.
The two-alarm blaze in the 17100 block of Windward Lane was reported at 8:20 p.m. It was said to have started in a chimney, but then it spread to the roof of the 1,288 square foot residence that was built in 1983, according to tax records.
At one point, firefighters were using a circular saw to remove the garage door in an attempt to save any vehicles inside.
No injuries were reported, but aerial views of the scene indicated that there was extensive damage.
