McKINNEY — One person was injured as fire swept through an apartment building in McKinney Sunday morning.

The blaze was reported around 1:30 a.m. at the Gables of McKinney complex in the 1500 block of Eldorado Parkway.

"The building was well involved when we first arrived," McKinney Fire Department Chief Mark Wallace said in a statement.

Thirty-one tenants fled the flames; one man was burned and was taken to the nearby Medical Center of McKinney for treatment.

Wallace said 12 of the 16 units in Building 13 were damaged in the fire. He said the cause remained under investigation.

McKinney firefighters received help from the Allen, Fairview and Frisco fire departments.
