D/FW AIRPORT - On Friday the final military "R&R" flight will depart D/FW International Airport.
Airport employees will serve lunch to soldier before they board a flight to Kuwait. There will also be a traditional "shower of affection" water-cannon salute as the plane takes off.
The military has consolidated R&R flights as the number of troops overseas is drawn down. They'll now fly into Atlanta.
In eight years, more than 460,000 soldiers flew into D/FW.
The flight is scheduled to depart Terminal B, Gate 33 at 3 p.m. Planners ask you arrive early, as they expect a big crowd.
