Eastbound U.S. Highway 80 west of FM 460 was closed Friday due to an accident involving an 18 wheeler. It was reopened by 6 p.m.

Forney emergency units are on scene putting out the fire that melted the cab and bled into its trailer. It's not clear what caused the accident or if anyone is injured. The Texas Department of Transportation advises drivers to outright avoid the area, if possible.

The accident occurred on a bridge where there are no frontage roads. Drivers are exiting SH 352 in Sunnyvale and cutting through city roads. You can avoid US 80 by taking Interstates 20 or 30.

"There is no estimated time when the eastbound lanes will be open, but it will take several hours to remove debris and inspect the bridge once the fire is extinguished," a press release reads.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office is assisting.
