FORT WORTH — Fort Worth police still don't know who was at fault in an accident that took the life of a woman and her little girl Thursday evening.
Christina Williams called 911 pleading for help as her car was taking on water.
Williams and her 22-month-old daughter Tisiphone both drowned just two minutes later.
Wiliams' car plowed through a fence and into a pond after crashing into another car along the service road of east Loop 820.
"I took care of Tisiphone yesterday afternoon. They had just left here," said Klla Jean Johnson, the girl's grandmother. "I heard the sirens, but I didn't know what they were for."
Witnesses said Williams did not stop at a stop sign.
Two men swam out to try to help free Christina Williams and her daughter, but their heroic efforts and first responders were unsuccessful.
The two were eventually freed from the vehicle by a dive team, but they had been under water for more than a half-hour at that point.
