A slow go in the IH 635 construction zone is going to get slower.

If it’s in your power this weekend to avoid the intersection of I-635 and I-35, you're going to want to avoid it.

“We’re gonna be setting steel beams.  Actually, a million pounds of steel beams to be exact,” said Heather DeLapp the Public Relations Manager with LBJ Express which is building the project.

As a result, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights the eastbound lane of 635 will be closed.  Passengers looking to merge onto I-35, to the north or the south, will be diverted.

“We just ask folks to be patient and expect delays,” DeLapp said.

And it won’t be the last time they ask.

Later this month, the entire 635 and 35 interchange will be shut down for a weekend in all directions as this massive project continues to unfold.
