FRISCO - Exide Technologies and the City of Frisco have reached an agreement in which Exide will cease business operations in the city no later than December 31, according to a joint statement released by Frisco and Exide this morning.

Around 180 acres of undeveloped land surrounding Exide's plant will be sold to the Frisco Community Development Corporation and the Frisco Economic Development Commission Corporation for $45 million, the statement revealed.

The agreement requires Exide "clean up the permitted plant site, including removal of all vertical structures with the exception of an administrative office building and wastewater treatment plant."

The release also stated that Frisco Mayor Maher Maso will seek state assistance for Exide employees who lose their jobs.
