DUNCANVILLE — Duncanville police are searching for two suspects who stole an elderly man’s car and escaped police Monday morning.
Department spokesman Doug Sisk said a man in his 20s approached an 86-year-old while he filled up his car in the 100 block of Danieldale Rd. at about 10:50 a.m.
The suspect demanded the man's wallet. The victim refused and the suspect pulled a handgun. Sisk said the victim then grabbed the gun and began trying to wrestle it away from his attacker.
During the struggle, a second suspect slipped into the victim’s car and drove off. The suspect with the gun then sped away in a tan four-door Saturn, Sisk said.
Police spotted the car at Wheatland Road and Westmoreland and hit the lights.
When they tried to pull it over, the suspect sped up and fled. He didn’t make it far –– Sisk said the man lost control of the car and wrecked.
He then ran on foot, disappearing into a wooded area. A helicopter and K-9 search came up empty and the suspects are both on the loose.
Sisk did not have a description of either suspect and did not release further information, citing the ongoing investigation. The man was not hurt.
