DALLAS — Just a week after going back to class at UTD, a student was dragged to his death by a hit-and-run driver.

Police said Wendan Qu, 20, was driving near Hillcrest Road early Saturday morning when his sedan crashed into a median barrier near Hillcrest Road around 3:45 a.m.

When Qu got out to examine the damage, he was struck by another vehicle that left the scene.

Several visitors came to Qu's home in Carrollton Saturday  to offer their prayers to his parents.

They have lost their only son.

Their neighbors are in disbelief.

"I can't imagine... if that happened to my son," said Ruby Pappachen.

A witness told police another driver passed her and then seconds later that driver slammed into Qu — but didn't stop.

Qu's neighbors hope investigators find the driver.

"They took a life, and whatever it was that caused them to run, it's not worth giving that grief to a family... to give them closure," said Pappachen.

Investigators have found the suspect's car — a 2004 Volkswagen — but did not locate the driver. They are working on several leads.
