Starting this week, the North Texas Tollway Authority and the Department of Public Safety will team up to begin pulling over habitual toll violators, and — in some cases — towing their vehicles.

New mobile license plate readers have been installed along the Dallas North Tollway. NTTA spokesman Michael Rey told News 8 last week that the mobile readers can be moved to alternate locations on a daily basis.

NTTA will initially target 500 drivers, hoping to get the attention of 6,000 additional scofflaws by the end of the year.

Rey said all the motorists who have failed to pay tolls will be served with notices. That notice calls for 10 days to either appeal or pay up.
