DALLAS - A man who police said struck his roommate on the head with a firearm and later fired shots while barricaded inside a Dallas home was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a tweet by Dallas police at 1:47 p.m. Monday.

Over three dozen police vehicles surrounded a home in the 5400 block of Singleton Blvd., where a barricaded man fired shots at a SWAT vehicle, police said. Police said no officers were injured in the shooting.

The incident began when two roommates became involved in an argument at the home Sunday night, according to tweets from the Dallas Police Department. During the altercation, one of the roommates was hit in the head by the other with a firearm, police said.

The victim and a witness to the altercation were able to leave the home, where the other roommate barricaded himself inside Monday morning.

Police said the injured roommate was treated at the scene.

During the standoff, officers closed off Singleton Boulevard from the 5200 block to the 5900 block.

In the midst of the Singleton Boulevard standoff, police said they also shut down an area of Ervay Street near Sanger Avenue while officers worked the scene where another person barricaded themselves inside a building. In this case, the suspect was "brought down" by Dallas Fire-Rescue and taken to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
