Divers recovered the body of a 27-year-old Justin man from Grapevine Lake this morning after he fell or jumped off a boat the night before.
The man, who was not identified, was boating with friends when he went overboard about 400 feet off shore near Oak Grove Park. His friends called 911 about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after anchoring the boat to search for him.
"Last night we started dive operations in attempt to rescue and were unsuccessful," said Deputy Fire Chief Mark Ashmead. "The visibility is about a foot, and the depth of what we're diving in is between 30 and 40 feet."
The body was found at 11:30 a.m. about 100 yards from the Dove Loop Boat Ramp in about 30 to 35 feet of water.
Ashmead said officials don't believe alcohol was a factor in the incident. It's unclear whether the man knew how to swim.
Grapevine police are investigating the apparent drowning.
