ARLINGTON – Lt.  Gov. David Dewhurst spoke publicly in North Texas for the first time since finishing second in the Republican primary.

Dewhurst attended a luncheon hosted by the Republican Women of Arlington at the Shady Valley Country Club.

Sen. Dan Patrick, Dewhurst’s challenger, didn't attend the event because of a scheduling conflict, according to Patrick’s campaign. He and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee were at a fundraiser in Dallas early Thursday afternoon.

Dewhurst and Patrick will appear together for a forum on Friday in Kerrville, outside San Antonio.

Patrick got 41 percent of the vote and Dewhurst finished the Republican primary for lieutenant governor with 28 percent. Both men now head into a runoff on May 27.
