Intruders shot
DeSOTO — A DeSoto homeowner shot and killed a man breaking into his home early Monday morning armed with an AK-47 assault rifle.
Police said two men tried to rob the house on 10 Mile Drive about 4 a.m. when gunfire broke out.
"They were very specific bout what they were looking for... they were looking for money," said DeSoto police spokesman Capt. Ron Smith.
When police arrived, they found one suspect dead inside with the AK-47; another was lying outside, injured.
Two other alleged accomplices were also arrested.
"We've charged two of them with aggravated robbery," Capt. Smith said. "The injured person is undergoing surgery as we speak; don't know his status, it's pretty serious, I understand. If he survives, then he will be charged with aggravated robbery as well."
The homeowners were questioned and released without being charged.
