DALLAS - On Wednesday, the Dallas police published their findings from their investigation into a fatal accident involving a squad car and a pedestrian on Jan. 22, 2012.

On that date, Ofc. Bryan Crenshaw was responding to a disturbance call, driving eastbound on the 9900 block of Bruton Road. Beverly Kirk stepped into the road and was hit by Crenshaw's vehicle. She died as a result of the impact.

The medical examiner's toxicology tests found Kirk had a blood alcohol content of 0.25 and was positive for the presence of cocaine, according to a DPD news release.

A reconstruction of the accident found Crenshaw was traveling between 41 and 43 miles per hour at the time of the impact. The posted speed limit in the area is 35 miles per hour. The Dallas police Internal Affairs Division will be conducting an administrative investigation of Crenshaw's speed at the time of the accident.

The investigators were unable to download data from Crenshaw's vehicle, as the impact did not cause the airbags to deploy, and the vehicle was not equipped with a dash camera. The department's press release claims 93 percent of the department's patrol vehicles have cameras, and all new vehicles have the cameras.

The news release describes the incident as a "tragic accident."
