DALLAS — Celebrations for the New Year lit up the Dallas skyline overnight.

The landmark Reunion Tower went public with its new Technicolor scheme — a test of newly-installed LED lights replacing the white bulbs that have been a familiar sight since they were turned on in 1978.

Not far away, the new Omni Hotel facade was aglow with animated fireworks as 2012 dawned, but a new show awaits.

The hotel planned to feature logos of the University of Houston and Penn State University to welcome them to the Ticket City Bowl.
