Shots fired
DALLAS -- Gunfire narrowly missed three Dallas police officers after a drive-by shooting in downtown Dallas early Sunday morning.
The incident happened at 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of South Pearl Street near Central Expressway.
Investigators said hundreds of people were hanging out in parking lots after clubs in the area closed their doors. They told News 8 several fights broke out, forcing officers to do crowd control.
According to police, 28-year-old Daniel Cortez fired his gun at three officers from his truck. One of the officers fired back, hitting the suspect's truck. Cortez was arrested a few blocks away.
No one was injured.
An employee from a club who did not want to be identified said he ran for cover when he heard the shots.
"Bullets don't have a name," said a club employee. "Plenty of people could have been hit."
Cortez is facing one charge of aggravated assault on a public servant.
