DALLAS -- Dallas County has agreed to pay $800,000 to settle a lawsuit filed after the 2008 death of an inmate booked on a driving while intoxicated charge.

The Dallas Morning News reported Thursday that the county does not admit liability in the death of 31-year-old Corey Dean Bailey.

The settlement came just days before a civil lawsuit was set for trial over the June 2008 death.

Records show Bailey died less than two weeks after being arrested on the DWI charge. His family said Bailey was suffering from paranoid delusions prior to his death and did not receive appropriate medical attention following a scuffle with jailers.

The newspaper reports Dallas County officials planned to present autopsy results that indicated the drug PCP was in Bailey's system.
