DALLAS - The Dallas Police Department will no longer use stop sticks during high-speed chases.

The decision came after dozens of officers were killed around the country, either hit by a suspect's car or squad cars while using the tire deflation devices.

StopTech, a company that makes stop sticks, claims the product is safe, and their website
lists 18,000 examples of them being used without injury.

There have not been any reports of local law enforcement being killed while using stop sticks.
