The over three-mile race was started a decade ago by then Mayor Laura Miller. It's a way to encourage school children and their families to become more physically active. The Saturday run benefited the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Bright and early Sunday, hundreds of thousands of runners will hit downtown for the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon.

The starting corral will be along Main Street. At 8 a.m., runners will cross at Market Street and head toward West Dallas.

The end of the race is along Griffin Street on the north side of the Dallas Convention Center.
