IRVING — DART is celebrating Monday's expansion of light rail service to Irving with a series of "Super Saturday" events.
The three new Orange Line stations — at the University of Dallas, Las Colinas and the Irving Convention Center — will hold free celebrations from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and trains will offer free service to shuttle passengers.
There will also be a 5 p.m. parade starting at the corner of Las Colinas Boulevard and Lake Carolyn Parkway.
The 9.2-mile Orange Line extension, which connects with the rest of the DART light rail network at Bachman Station in Dallas, will eventually each Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in December 2014.
Regular service on the Orange Line between Parker Road Station in Plano and Irving Convention Center Station will begin on Monday morning.
