DALLAS - DART released a statement Monday night saying the driver of the paratransit van that ran into stopped traffic, causing a five-vehicle accident and a massive traffic backup, is no longer employed by Veolia Transportation, the company DART contracts for its paratransit van program.
However in the statement, DART said Veolia has told them the investigation into the crash found no evidence of a violation of the company's cell phone use, or drugs and alcohol policies. By law, all drivers are drug and alcohol tested immediately following serious accidents.
The company said the driver "had a good safety record in his more than 11 years of service until this accident," but "safety must always be our highest priority."
