DALLAS — It's not an adult publication, but the current issue of D Magazine is being treated like one.

At least four major grocery store chain locations in North Dallas and the SMU area have covered up the magazine's front cover as it sits on shelves, leaving only the publication's logo showing.

The cover is a chalk board with the words "The ESD Sex scandal" on it, highlighting that issue's story about the lawsuit the Episcopal School of Dallas just lost.

Several mothers with young children from that school complained to managers that 'ESD' and 'SEX' were inappropriate at eye level for small children in the checkout lane.

"We think it's an important story," said D Magazine editor Tim Rogers. "The more widely discussed it is, the greater the chance that the school will undertake the reforms necessary to protect its students. In that light, these parents' efforts to get D Magazine kicked off the newsstand have helped the magazine immeasurably."
