FORT WORTH — Two women were killed and a third was injured in a pre-dawn accident in Fort Worth Sunday.
Police spokesman Officer Daniel Segura said a Mercury sport utility vehicle with two people was traveling north on Loop 820 near Las Vegas Trail when it struck a guardrail around 3:40 a.m. and spun 180 degrees by the impact — facing oncoming traffic.
When the driver got out to check the damage, she was struck and killed by an oncoming Toyota 4 Runner, which also crashed into her car.
Segura said the driver of the Toyota was also killed in the head-on wreck and an occupant of the Mercury was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
No names were released on Sunday morning and the cause of the accident was under investigation.
Eastbound traffic on Loop 820 was shut down for about two hours following the crash.
