ROWLETT – Rowlett police are investigating the deaths of a couple discovered in their home Sunday afternoon.
According to police, Amanda Todhunter's death was ruled a suicide and her boyfriend's death ruled a homicide. Brandon McClain suffered two gunshot wounds, one to the back and one to the head.
The couple's bodies were found with obvious trauma inside the kitchen of the home on Luna Drive.
According to authorities, police were called to the home of Todhunter and McClain in the past. Rowlett police say they received a 911 call on May 24 when Todhunter threatened to kill herself. Authorities were also called to the home on February 22 for a simple assault.
Police said McClain's mother found the bodies after she became worried when her son didn’t show up for his son’s baseball game on Saturday.
“His mother came over to the residence to get in contact with him, couldn’t reach him on cell phone so she came over here and saw a deceased female though the back patio door,” said Lt. David Nabors, with Rowlett police.
Neighbors say the couple has lived there less than a year.
“I think I only saw him twice out there mowing the lawn and that’s the only time I ever saw him,” said neighbor Shirley Ross.
But in that time, Rowlett police say they’ve paid two visits to the home. The most recent was in February for an assault call.
Detectives aren’t ready to say what they believe happen, only that the couple was dead 24 hours before their family found them.
