FORT WORTH -- A construction worker was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a piece of equipment he was working on fell 50 feet from the under-construction Chisolm Trail Parkway bridge off of Southwest Loop 820.
The worker was helping pour bridge decking at the time of the accident, according to the NTTA.
Just after 1 p.m. the Fort Worth Fire Department was called to the scene off of the 4900 block of Southwest Loop 820 because the worker was pinned under the fallen equipment. When firefighters arrived, they found the machine had landed around the worker, but was not pinning him.
The worker was immobilized and taken to a local hospital by MedStar with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
The Fort Worth Fire Department would not speculate on the cause of the accident.
The bridge's construction was being managed by Texas Sterling Construction. A company spokesperson also couldn't say how the accident occurred, but said it is under investigation.
