DENTON - Officials at the University of North Texas say it is time to take off the hard-hats because construction is finished on the new Mean Green Stadium.

This week, University of North Texas received the keys to the brand new facility, which seats more than 30,000 people.

On Wednesday morning, News 8 got an exclusive look at the two giant screens, new luxury seating, and one section of seats inspired by an eagle in flight. It is also one of the few LEED certified stadiums in the country, which means it uses recycled materials and solar panels to power parts of the facility.

The old stadium, Fouts Field, will still be used for track and other events for now.

For football game days this fall, part of the North Texas Boulevard Bridge will be closed to traffic so fans can safely cross Interstate 35 from the campus to the stadium.

The first home game is September 10 against the Houston Cougars.
