WATAUGA - It's the first day of spring but it's clear, winter refuses to leave.
There has been one more round of freezing temperatures, strong winds and snow.
Less than an inch of snow fell in Watauga but the cold blast surprised some diners.
"I heard about it, but I didn't think it was going to happen because it's the first day of spring," said Gerson Mora.
Drivers pulled into a gas station on Old Denton Highway to fill up and take a break.
"I was kind of blown away when it started to snow. I thought it was just going to be cold," said Ben Sutton.
For Sutton, slick roads are a concern.
"It's pretty bad. I felt like I was going to slide off the road quite a few times," he said.
He's heading home, looking forward to a spring awakening.
"I am definitely ready for spring to kick off," he said.
