Cleburne officer injured
CLEBURNE — A Cleburne police officer was reported in stable condition Saturday after being seriously injured in a crash Friday night.
Police said the Officer Aaron Beseda was on his way to an emergency call involving an assault with a knife when his squad car collided with another moving car, then struck several parked cars on Poindexter Street shortly after 6 p.m.
According to preliminary information released by investigators, Beseda had his lights and siren activated and the other driver turned in front of his patrol car.
The other driver is expected to recover, while Beseda was rushed to a Fort Worth hospital.
"All of us are here that can be here," said Cleburne Officer Kelly Summey. "The rest of us are back in Cleburne, working the streets."
Cleburne police said Officer Beseda remained in the intensive care unit on Saturday. They said he has been a member of the department for three-and-a-half years, and added he has a total of six years of law enforcement experience.
