DALLAS - A police pursuit of a suspect in an Oak Cliff neighborhood ended with the suspect fatally shot after he allegedly pointed what officers believed was a high-powered rifle in their direction.

The suspect's sister said her brother - who has been named as Gaylon Alexander - was inside her home high on drugs when he took out a gun and started firing the weapon. As people ran from the alleged gunman, someone called 911. Her brother then fled the scene in a sport utility vehicle, which was when police caught up with the suspect and the pursuit began.

The chase started in the 4200 block of Dupont Drive and ended in the 4900 block of Malden Lane.

Confusion over who was shot ensued after officers got on their radio and originally reported a civilian shot.
