WYLIE — The body of a small boy was found early Thursday morning in a Wylie park near Lake Lavon.

Wylie police began their investigation after a maintenance worker at East Fork Park made the discovery shortly after 9 a.m. in the 1900 block of Skyview Drive.

On Thursday evening, Wylie police could only say that the body appeared to be a three-year-old white boy. His identity remained a mystery and no cause of death released.

The maintenance worker who found the child said he was told by police not to discuss the case.

News 8 has learned that police contacted local child care centers during the day to inquire about any children who might be unaccounted for.

The While ISD has not been involved in the investigation.

The results of an autopsy conducted Thursday afternoon have not been made public.
