DALLAS - How does refreshing lemonade sound on a hot day like today?

There's a fund-raising effort under way in Dallas this Thursday.

Some kids are raising money for a good cause by selling lemonade at the 4100 block of Illinois Avenue.

They are raising money in memory of a special little girl, Alex Scott. She died at the age of eight in 2004 after a lifelong battle with cancer.

When she was four, she decided to sell lemonade to raise money for children with cancer.

This year marks the tenth-year anniversary of the foundation, Alex's Lemonade Stand.

Her story has inspired children all over the nation.

"I actually really cried when I was reading the site. When I was reading the site, it kind of depressed me, and I thought I could help in one way," said Laura Hernandez, one of the Dallas fundraisers.

Selling lemonade makes a difference. These stands in the last 10 years have helped to raise more than $30 million for cancer research.
