DALLAS — After more than seven years and millions of dollars, the City of Dallas is celebrating the grand opening of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge over the Trinity River, linking downtown with West Dallas.
Following a running event Saturday morning, the bridge will be open to pedestrians for a free "street fair" from noon until 9 p.m.
The event features parades, music and food, followed by a fireworks spectacular.
The bridge won't open for traffic for a couple of weeks; wet weather delayed the construction schedule on approach ramps.
There was a private party and fireworks celebration on the bridge Friday night.
