CARROLLTON — A Carrollton police officer who stopped to help a motorist late Saturday night had a very close call.
A woman driving an SUV slammed into his patrol car from behind on Interstate 35E near the intersection with President George Bush Turnpike.
The woman, her child and the officer were not hurt, but the squad car was damaged beyond repair.
The man the officer had stopped to help was hurt from a previous accident and taken to the hospital. His condition was not available Sunday morning.
