Moped, car collide
DENTON - A woman riding a moped was killed when a Ford Taurus crossed over into oncoming traffic, hitting the moped head-on just before 7 a.m. Monday in Denton.
Authorities said the woman, whose name has not been released, was wearing a helmet.
The collision happened about a mile north of Long Road on FM 428, also known as East Sherman Drive.
Authorities said there was no evidence drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. It is unclear why the driver of the Taurus lost control of the vehicle, sending it careening into oncoming traffic.
Traffic was diverted onto Long Road.
Authorities are investigating the crash.
